YEAR 3 BROADENS OUR PUPILS' HORIZONS WITH THE HUMANITIES EXPANDED AND OPPORTUNITIES TO REPRESENT THE BANDA IN SPORTS FIXTURES AGAINST OTHER IAPS SCHOOLS.
As well as continuing with specialist teachers for French and Kiswahili in Year 3, our children’s extra-curricular activities curriculum is broadened with opportunities to compete for the school in sports fixtures in the Under 9 age group. The humanities are expanded to cover a broad range of topics in both Geography and History. Each term the children consolidate their learning with a themed activity day such as Kenya Day, India Day and Ancient Greek Day. Topical field trips also enhance learning with visits to a variety of local establishments. More recently this has included visiting the Arboretum, a Hindu temple, and Dairyland ice cream factory.
We make our lessons practical and interactive, giving the children an opportunity to take charge of their learning. They are introduced to research skills using both the Library and e-learning as tools. Lessons are differentiated according to ability. As a result, the Year 3 children are confident and lively learners, always evident from the positive and vibrant energy coming from within their classrooms.
