Sports
Sport at the Banda dovetails the development of excellence with the provision of sport for all whilst fostering a love of being physically active.
Regular opportunities for physical exercise, teamwork and time outside the classroom are vital, and our sports programme in the Upper School ensures that our pupils are well-provided with the chance to be active. Weekly PE lessons include swimming, athletics, squash and tennis, as well as a focus on a number of other physical skills. Our Games lessons (five each week) focus on team sports, with teams preparing for inter-school fixtures at Under 11 (Year 5 and 6) and Under 13 (Year 7 and 8) level. Teams cater for all abilities and we take care to ensure that all our pupils have the opportunity to represent the school at their level during the course of a term.
Team sports are as follows:
-
September Term
Football
Cricket
-
January Term
Hockey
-
April Term
Netball (girls)
Rugby (boys)
As well as competitive matches and tournaments in these team sports, there are also opportunities during the year to compete in swimming, tennis, athletics, tennis, squash, golf and horse riding. Within school, Inter-House competitions and events provide further occasions for pupils and staff to come together to enjoy sport at all levels, and our inter-Form swimming competition, Boats, is always highly anticipated.
