Learning Environment

At The Banda we have an enviable space which is fully enclosed providing a safe, secure and child-friendly learning environment. Situated on 35 acres with views of the extensive gardens and grounds from almost every classroom our pupils have the natural world at their fingertips, for both lessons and play.

Our on-site Medical Centre is staffed by two experienced registered nurses who can ensure the appropriate care is delivered for the rumbles and tumbles. Based in our Well-Being Centre is our full-time school counsellor to provide comfort and guidance for any worries.

Our truly outdoor facilities include: a six-a-side astro turf hockey pitch, which can also be used as netball and tennis courts, a six-lane 25 metre swimming pool, two glass-backed squash courts and all-weather cricket nets. Our sports pitches are maintained by a fantastic team of ground staff who seasonally mark out football and cricket, hockey, rugby and netball pitches as well as an athletics track and field facilities. On Kisembe Field we have a mini mountain bike track set up to give mountain bike riders unique challenges should you sign up for this extra-curricular activity.

Still partially out-door we have a wonderful multi-purpose studio which works as a centre for the Performing Arts (including Dance), gymnastics and a number of our Extras.

Our fantastic indoor facilities include individual classrooms situated in Year group blocks, a two storey Subject Centre, an Arts Centre comprising a music technology suite, a recording studio as well as the instrument practice rooms, a Performing Arts room, a spacious Art studio and a well-equipped Design Technology workshop.

Three spacious Science laboratories allow opportunities for a hands-on approach in this workspace. A fully equipped Computing facility, portable devices and high density interactive touch screens in every classroom support the development of digital literacy in all subjects and every area of the school. A large Assembly Hall with good stage lighting and excellent sound equipment provides a traditional performance space. This also includes retractable seating. The Banda has three well-stocked libraries – one for Pre-Prep, one in the Lower School for Years 1 to 4 and in the Upper School for Years 5 to 8.
