Pastoral
Lower School pupils easily engage with adults because our staff is highly approachable. We ensure children know their teachers are always available to offer help, advice, a friendly chat or a laugh. This open relationship is possible because trust is fundamental to The Banda’s framework.
Class teachers are the primary point of contact for most pastoral concerns. Often, simply having a chance to talk things through is enough to resolve minor issues.
For more significant problems, the class teacher can immediately seek guidance from our dedicated specialists: the full-time School Counsellor, the Head of the Lower School or the Deputy Head Pastoral. Pupils are also always welcome to approach these members of staff directly.
We actively seek to enhance our pupils’ confidence and self-esteem whilst consistently reinforcing the values required for moral citizenship. For example;
- School assemblies reinforce important moral lessons.
- Our focus on a new half-termly value ensures pupils and staff regularly discuss and reflect on life’s most important principles.
Regular communication with parents is vital in ensuring potential problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently. The happiness of our children reflects the success of the teamwork within The Banda community.
The Banda School is deeply committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in its care. Any safeguarding concerns are brought immediately to the attention of our Designated Safeguarding Leads. (Please see our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy for details).
Our children love going to school. I love this school - never change anything!
