YEAR 7 HAVE BEEN STUDYING TRANSPORT AND INDUSTRY IN GEOGRAPHY THIS TERM AND TO SUPPORT THIS UNIT THEY NEEDED A CASE STUDY OF FARMING IN KENYA.
So, at the end of week 9 we headed up to Naro Moru a small market town between Nyeri and Nanyuki, to visit a couple of farms and see for ourselves how farming works here. Our objective was to understand the location factors involved in where to have your farm, how farming can impact people, the economy and the environment both positively and negatively. The work we carried out was very useful and will definitely support the class work we have already completed. Whilst at one of the farms the children were given the chance to try their hand at milking, nobody was offered a job!
True to the competitive nature of Year 7, we also spent some time in the adventure playground challenging each other to various games, obstacles and working on our teamwork. We spent time in the pool and a little bit of prep before supper.
