Year 6 set off on their last trip of the year on Monday, heading to Punda Milia’s Camp, Nakuru. We arrived at lunch time, set up our tents and then made the most of the pool. The rest of the afternoon was then spent playing team building and group games, which was great fun and all getting fully involved and quite competitive.
On Tuesday, after a big breakfast, we set off to Menengai crater. Reaching the top, we had fantastic views of the caldera and spent some time discussing the volcanic landscape and how this links to people’s lives in the area.
We then visited some caves nearby, which are sacred to the local people and used as places of worship. The children found them fascinating and enjoyed scrambling down into them. Lastly, we visited Edgerton Castle, spending some time running around the rooms and having our own party in the Ball Room. By the end of the day the children (and teachers) were exhausted, so it was movie night back at camp!
A thoroughly enjoyable trip, the children were exceptional throughout. Thanks to Mrs. Viljoen and Mr. Gardner for staffing the trip.
