Just before half term, Year 7 had their first Geography field trip of the year. We travelled to Naro Moru and camped at the Naro Moru River Lodge.
Our current Geography topic is Transport and Industry and we are looking at farming as an industry, with the objective of comparing farming in Kenya and the UK. We had two excellent visits to local farms and small holdings and were able to create very useful case studies for the topic. The land owners and farm workers were incredibly helpful and welcoming and the children were able to get fully involved and I think we all found the visits extremely interesting. We also carried out some Science investigations for Miss Lowe and Mrs Shah while we were away. The children will compare their habitat and ecology findings with those already collected in The Banda School grounds.
The River lodge also has a team building course, so we spent some time on the obstacle course and carrying out team building games. The children all cooperated well and worked hard to get their teams over the balance pole. It was pleasing to see them coming up with different strategies and discussing their ideas.
Thanks very much to Miss Conn, Miss Withill and Mr Swift for staffing the trip.
