Sun Protection Awareness

All pupils have enjoyed a visit from Mrs Rebecca Hill, a former nurse in Australia, who came to talk to us all about the importance of protecting ourselves from the sun.

Through some useful background information and a demonstration of different types of hats and sun cream, we are all now far more aware of the dangers of the sun. The following rhyme shared with the younger children helps us all to remember the important message:

Slip on a shirt

Slap on sunscreen

Slap on a hat

Seek shade

Slide on sunnies

It’s as simple as that!

Please can we ask parents to ensure that children put on sunscreen before school in the morning. They are also advised to bring a bottle of sunscreen to school (clearly named) so that it can be reapplied later in the day, particularly prior to playing sport.
