The Pembroke Riding Challenge

Last weekend 8 riders travelled to Pembroke with their ponies to compete in the Pembroke Riding Challenge. This was a cross-country and show-jumping competition. The first day was a 'follow-my-leader' pairs competition in which our riders performed excellently. We had many novice riders taking part so following the more experienced riders gave them confidence. George Mattock, Amy Grammaticas and Isla Grammaticas lead their pairs and should be commended for their patience and team work.

On day two the children competed in team and individual events as well as handy pony. Zoe Furness took 5th place in the handy pony. The more experienced riders jumped a round of 10 cross-country fences and then a separate round of show-jumps and any error was costly. In the end, Isla Grammaticas finished first with her pony Champagne Charlie and the team were placed third overall. Amy Grammaticas rode an excellent event but was unfortunately penalised for being too fast! She was an excellent sport and graciously commented that it was a fun weekend and an experience.

Well done to all the riders; Alice Eggar, Emilia Eggar, Laura Eggar, George Mattock, Zoe Furness, Isla Grammaticas, Amy Grammaticas and Tara Grammaticas.
