ON THURSDAY THIS WEEK, WE WERE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME CLARE SCHMIDT TO THE BANDA FOR THE DAY. CLARE IS THE HEAD OF ART FROM KING'S COLLEGE, TAUNTON IN THE U.K. AND SHE CAME TO DELIVER AN ART WORKSHOP FOR 20 OF OUR YEAR 7 STUDENTS IN THE MORNING.
The children were delighted to learn the new printing techniques that Clare demonstrated, and they then had a chance to try them out for themselves. We were using pure pigments that Clare had brought from England so things got rather messy in a very colourful way throughout the session!
Clare also took the opportunity to meet with our Year 8 scholars in the afternoon and to talk with them about their work and creative ideas. She looked through their portfolios and was very impressed with the standard of their work.
Clare also found the time to meet with parents at the end of school who found her presentation about life at King's College most informative. Many thanks too, to Michelle Church who shared her experience of King’s with parents as she herself is a parent of a current student there.
