Nursery in Our Preparatory School | The Banda School

Children start their Early Years education in our Nursery class where they quickly settle into this caring environment, soon realising that learning is fun.

The Nursery 2 classrooms have been adapted into one large open area which supports Child Initiated Learning alongside teacher led activities. The classroom leads to an outside area which allows the children to free flow between indoor and outdoor learning experiences. They have a secure garden area which has a sandpit, water play, chalkboards and an area for art and craft activities.

With two highly qualified teachers and two teaching assistants all children are able to access the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum through tailor made learning opportunities. We have also introduced a new system of recording the children’s progress with Online Learning Journals. These are a new innovation in the EYFS arena and we are looking forward to seeing the results.

Nursery 2 children also have the opportunity to learn from our subject specialists in the main school. They have lessons in ICT and Music. In the afternoons, the children follow an activities program which contains a wide range of different topics. These include gardening, arts and crafts, cookery, ICT and Kiswahili.

Our Nursery is a fun and caring environment for your children and a great start to the EYFS. We would love for you to come and have a look at all the fantastic work that the children do, so please get in touch and come for a visit.
