THE BANDA IS SITUATED IN EXTENSIVE AND ATTRACTIVE GROUNDS, OPPOSITE THE NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK.
The site is fully enclosed, providing a safe, secure and child-friendly environment with plenty of space for sport and play. A wide range of sports are well-catered for at the school. There are several pitches for rugby, hockey, cricket, rounders, netball and football, a six-a-side astro-turf hockey pitch which can also be used as netball and tennis courts, a 25 metre swimming pool and two glass-backed squash courts.
As The Banda is at the forefront of E- Learning in Kenya all pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8 have iPads, which further enhances the wide use of technology in the classroom. The Upper School classrooms are all equipped with multi-media screens, Apple TV and in the Lower School smart boards and data projectors are available. This is in addition to our two modern ICT Suites and the bank of iPads for use by other year groups in the classroom.
Children enjoy Art and Design Technology lessons in the bright and fully equipped Arts Centre, which also houses two Music rooms, a Recording Studio as well as the Instrument Practice rooms. In addition, Design Technology makes use of our Food Technology room. The two Science Laboratories are spacious and allow plenty of opportunity for group work and experiments. The children also have access to three fully stocked School Libraries.
A large Assembly Hall with good stage lighting and excellent sound equipment provides a traditional performance space. From September 2017 this will include retractible seating. Regular use is made of other venues throughout the school, such as the Memorial Garden and Audio-Visual conference room.
