COMPUTING FINDS ITS WAY INTO EVERY SPHERE OF LIFE AND OUR CAMPUS WIDE NETWORK OF 160 MEGABITS HAS ENABLED PUPILS EASY ACCESS TO THE INTERNET.
Computing is captivating and aims to ignite imagination and creativity. From Nursery upwards pupils are exposed to computing skills that have a significant effect on their day -to -day life. The use of iPads in the classroom by the Year 7 and 8 students has made it easier to stretch our teaching beyond ICT to Computing skills that give them an edge in the digital world. Such skills include computer programming, animation, video editing, filming and 3D Modelling.
In the Pre-Prep and Lower School and using technology in the classroom, pupils will have a one hour of timetabled computing, gaining experience in using a PC and learning how to use a wide variety of software in order to solve problems and complete projects. Pupils will also learn basic control technology using a Logo program and will experiment with programming using Beebots as well as Floor Turtles.
In the Upper School pupils are engaged in mainly cross -curricular projects that are aimed at enhancing their already acquired computing skills in research based projects. Pupils design simple websites, computer games, stop motion animation and 3D Models. Coding is an integral part of the Computing Curriculum.
