"J’aime le francais parce-que c’est amusant"

BONJOUR!

French is taught in an interesting and vibrant way from Year 3 to Year 8. A wide range of resources are used to support pupils’ learning, including e-learning (websites), songs, drama, games, film clips, group work, paired work and other extra-curricular activities. To a large extent, lessons are conducted in the target language in order to create an authentic atmosphere.

Equal value is placed upon reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, and pupils are regularly assessed in these areas. We believe that language learning should be fun but equally it requires hard work and perseverance. Common Entrance results in June 2015 were extremely positive with 96% of the year group receiving an A* to C grade.

A "language immersion" trip at the Château de la Baudonnière in Normandy, France is available to Year 7 and 8 pupils. The trip hugely benefits pupils’ speaking skills. French days also happen annually at The Banda and include opportunities to immerse all the pupils in the French culture.
