SIX YEARS LATER AND THE FIRST IAPS SCHOOL IN EAST AFRICA TO INTRODUCE iPADS IN THE CLASSROOM, THE BANDA, CONTINUES TO INVEST IN NEW TECHNOLOGIES THAT IMPACT, IMPROVE AND INNOVATE TEACHING AND LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR PUPILS AND TEACHING STAFF.
High quality interactive multi-touch screens are replacing smart boards and projectors from Reception classes through to the Upper School. We not only use iPads, iMacs and Apple TVs, but also Microsoft Windows with a range of applications, as well as various Google applications. Our aim is to expose our pupils to various technologies that broaden their thinking and experience.
USE OF iPADS AT THE BANDA
Bringing education to life, school-based iPads are available to our pupils from Reception classes to Year 5.
From Year 6, pupils own their iPads, which they use in class and take home with them. The school installs subject-specific apps as well as our e-learning platform in all iPads. This affords our pupils access to content prepared by their teachers.
The original integration of iPads in teaching and learning at The Banda School received wide recognition with The SATIPS (Society for Support And Training In Prep. Schools) Magazine, publishing the Case Study about The Banda's e-learning programme in their May 2015 issue.
