"We aim to: develop enquiring minds, self-confidence and a range of skills..."

The Banda is a unique and vibrant school, with a wonderfully positive atmosphere.

The success of Teaching and Learning here can largely be attributed to the fantastic relationships built between the children and the teaching staff. Pupils and teachers at The Banda exhibit a great deal of mutual respect, alongside a shared sense of fun and a desire to succeed. Our teaching staff fully invest in ensuring that every one of the children in their care strives for greatness and achieves his or her best in all areas of the curriculum.

As a British Curriculum School, our teaching is entirely in line with modern British Prep Schools in the UK. In Pegasus Early Years we have successfully implemented the Early Years Foundation Stage and Early Learning Goals, which are designed to help children acquire and develop fundamental learning skills. As the children move into Key Stage 1 and 2 we adhere closely to the new British National Curriculum guidelines, adapting the syllabus where necessary to ensure that it is relevant to the children in the environment in which they live. At the start of Year 6 we begin to study the 13+ Common Entrance Syllabus in all academic subjects, preparing our children for the transition into their chosen Secondary Schools, whether they be in Kenya, South Africa, the UK or elsewhere.

The Banda is a non-selective school, catering for a broad range of abilities. It is testament to the experienced and qualified teaching staff as well as the work ethic of our highly motivated pupils that we continually achieve such great success at Common Entrance. 2016’s Year 8 cohort all gained entry to their nominated Secondary Schools.

The Learning Support department has five full-time members of staff providing both one to one lessons and in class support for children with learning difficulties. This is at no additional cost to parents. We have also developed a comprehensive Scholarship programme in order to thoroughly prepare our pupils should they choose to apply for Scholarships to their chosen Secondary School. Amongst the 27 children leaving The Banda in July 2017, 20 Scholarships were achieved to schools within Kenya and in the UK.
