The Banda School offers a British Prep School education for boys and girls aged 2 to 13. The school is situated in extensive and attractive grounds, close to Nairobi National Park.
As an IAPS British Curriculum School it prepares its pupils for the next stage of their education in Kenya or throughout the world. The school currently has around 400 children on the roll. A purpose built Weekly Boarding facility is available and provides a home away from home experience in a beautiful setting.
A visit to The Banda is highly recommended in order to taste and experience all that is on offer, especially the magical feel which so many visitors comment on. Children’s needs are the driving force for all that we do and Pastoral Care is paramount. Our pupil’s happiness, commitment and enthusiasm all help to reflect the school’s outstanding success.
Our broad curriculum is designed to help our children to fly. A new Co-Curricular Programme (CCP) has been introduced this year to complement the existing wide range of Activities. A highly regarded sporting school, The Banda fields strong first teams across the board, whilst offering a range of fixtures to give all pupils the opportunity to represent the school. An outstanding Performing Arts programme, with strong Music and Drama departments, help to highlight the breadth of education on offer. An enviable Art Department enhances individual talent, and some of The Banda’s art students have won international awards as well as Art Scholarships.
In the drive for academic excellence, staff create in their pupils a passion for learning. Small classes, dedicated and well-qualified teachers, as well as a strong Learning Support Department, all ensure that teaching is carefully tailored to individual needs. Each year a number of scholarship awards are gained to Secondary schools in Kenya and throughout the world. For example, a total of ……………. Scholarships were gained overall, by a leaving cohort of …….. pupils.
Technology plays a central and important role at The Banda. The school currently has exclusive access in Kenya to Apple’s iTunes U e-learning platform. All teaching staff and all children in years 7 and 8 are equipped with iPads, which are in constant use as a learning tool, and all classrooms are equipped with either Apple TV or Interactive Whiteboards. The campus-wide wireless network and high speed fibre internet links, ensure that full use can be made of all these resources.
The Banda does not forget its social responsibilities and extensive charity work, parental involvement and an active PTA ensures that we play an active role in the wider community. Former pupils maintain strong links with the school and anyone associated with The Banda is guaranteed “Friends for Life”.
